Dove and a Hummingbird in the same tree, during the wind storm

The dove nest is very basic almost fragile, but it's built on a thick branch that doesn't move.  The hummingbird nest looks really strong and well formed on the end of a small branch that is tossed around by the wind.  I suppose they are used to orienting themselves in erratic movements, probably learned or passed along from the nest.

Santa Ana winds with a vengeance

For some strange reason ,now, these winds seem to be vengeful, not just a result of atmospheric conditions. The wind has been blowing strong since yesterday.  I can smell and taste the dirt particles.  I'm feeling a slight headache.  My eyes feel itchy.  The dusty air feels warm.  I saw small trees knocked over yesterday.  Not giant trees but small little trees.  When the wind blows over a large tree it makes the wind look strong and powerful, when the wind  knocks down a small tree it makes the wind look like a bully.

fog in the field

Dairy Queen closed

I'm not wondering why it closed, I'm wondering how it stayed in business.  Years ago there was a guy that would stand at this intersection.  He wore a pith helmet and had a large overstuffed backpack.  I was told he was waiting there for the mother-ship to come back and pick him up.  He had a tent he slept in a field south of this intersection.  However all day everyday he would stand here and wait.  He never held up a sign asking for money.  If he wasn't walking, or stretching his muscles, he was reading a book.  That much determination made me wonder.  Whatever he experienced at this intersection was extremely powerful.  Maybe the energy vortex built this Dairy Queen and kept it in business several years.  Because it wasn't the customer service, or the product.  I won't be surprised if one day they find an altar in a secret chamber under this building that created the illusion of a Dairy Queen.  There are many stories about 'other worldly forces' in this valley.  This just happens to be a crossroads where one man brought attention, by his unwavering belief that something, had in fact, happened here.

While I know that my bad experience at this Dairy Queen is not proof the devil sells ice cream (because everyone knows it would melt).  I'm genuinely surprised a mob of angry citizens didn't run this business out of town, and it just left quietly in the night.

retail reality

I watched a TV segment about recreational marijuana stores in Colorado.  They showed a highly interactive store where you could find out specific information about different types of marijuana before purchasing. The only product this store has for sale is marijuana.  Now compare this to real world retail.  Let's use milk for an example.  Imagine a store that sold milk only.  You could find if it was cow milk, you could learn the name of the cow, what the cow eats on a daily basis, what type of weather conditions the cow lives in, who milked the cow...I think you get my point.  The same could be done for soy milk, almond milk, goat milk etc...  Now imagine each item you could ever purchase being marketed in this manner.  Imagine the absolute feeling of control over ever segment of your life.

Why is it that ONLY marijuana is able to be presented in such an elaborate manner.  Who has decided for the masses the way retailers set up their sales operations for everyday household, or food items? Who is paying for this extravagant marijuana sales presentation?  How long before the retail reality settles in for marijuana marketing (like it has for tobacco)?

Too much hype in recreational drug use, caused by too much hype in journalism.

red with black spots, black with red spots

This tiny lady bug landed on the arm while I was loading groceries into my car.
While sitting at the red light at Warren Rd.  A Bicolored Blackbird sits on a water sprinkler along Hwy 74.  They fly up 12 inches, you see the red dots on their wings, then disappear into the tall crops.  From this angle it looks like they are watering weeds.  More things that will be missed when they start major construction at this intersection.

Dove in our tree "self" on the gas pump

The word "self" on the gas pump
makes me wonder:
Where in the world does a gas station have full service gas pumping?  It used to be standard but it hasn't been that way since the 1990's.

This large branch fell unprovoked yesterday

I'm searching for the tree name.  I see them growing mostly in abandoned places.  There is an old cistern nearby.  It is not uncommon to see people sitting in this area drinking, smoking, and doing whatever.  Over the years I've noticed it draws people to gather here.  It's a semi-hidden place in a high traffic area, and near the Hwy.  I've been told there was a home but it burned down.  The story of this place reminded me of the beginning of a horror movie, where a tortured childhood created a demented adult.  Someone burned down the house to break the cycle of evil.  It is strange I've noticed that fire is used by people that are long time residents in this valley.  To break curses or "gettin' witched".  Not sure where this originated but it is a very common theme.

Pregnant Woman Dies After Horrifying Medical Mixup

Mr. Al-Abed removed what he clearly believed to be the appendix. He thought he found it, removed it,

This is not a mix-up this is murder.  They will probably find out he just showed up at the hospital one day pretending to be a doctor, and has been there ever since, and no one knows who he really is.

Hemet never ceases to amaze me

Trying to recapture the past.   Hemet never ceases to amaze me.  There is no place quite like Hemet.  Some cities are step back in time a reminder of our sturdy rugged past.  Other cities are a step into the future with the hope, and promise of technology.   Hemet is a city of today, the here and now.  The awkward clumsy newness of those first adventurous steps.  This town never quite gets it right.  The would've, should've, could've, of introspection.  It is a reminder of each step of everyday, the struggle.  No matter how hard anyone tries you can never get ahead or behind in Hemet.  Hemet is every second of everyday for the rest of your life.

real world, real time...real s-s-s-l-l-l-o-o-o-w-w-w-w-w-w-w-w-(www.com)

A few days ago I was chatting with a salesman about the future of the cell phone industry.  He was trying to explain how the trend in retail is focusing solely on the cell phone market.  I didn't understand most of what he was talking about, it sounded mostly like speculation.  It was like he had been to several motivational speaking presentations over the past several weeks and hadn't come off that veritable high yet.

To my surprise yesterday I saw a group of people peddling cell phones out of the trunk of a car in a shopping center parking lot.  I'm wondering if retailers plan to hire operators to handle the onslaught of cell phone users that are evidently going to want immediate access to goods and services.  I would expect a person to be able to text message a retailer who will have a grocery order filled and waiting for the customer to arrive at the dock, or any type of consumable items.  No longer will anyone have to stand in line, or look for a sales person to assist them.  The customer can have a time stamped demand, and voila` the products appear like magic.  Hassle free, no more driving here or there.  Cities can become giant warehouses that provide all the necessary consumables.  No more giant parking lots, just drive through lanes at docks.  Eventually the automobile would be replaced by delivery services that bring the goods to individual housing communities.
Who really knows what the next trend in retail is going to be.  It will take a quantum leap to change the way retail marketing is structured.  The way cities are zoned.  The amount of money that is being poured into the freeways in this area it doesn't look like there will be an end to automobiles in the near future.
The only thing that makes business sense about trying to get in on the cell phone market is the free access to consumer information that is acquired from cell phone usage.  I know that being able to drive to a store and make a purchase and pick up the item same day is far better than going online making a purchase and having to wait 10+ days to have it delivered .  Currently I have two items available ONLY online.  The money has been taken from my account and now that project has come to a complete stand still has I wait and wait and wait for the delivery to arrive.

Atlanta archbishop apologizes over $2.2M mansion

http://news.yahoo.com/atlanta-archbishop-apologizes-over-2-2m-mansion-001953367.html

Archbishop Wilton Gregory recently moved into a nearly 6,400-square-foot (595-square-meter) residence. Its construction was made possible by a large donation from the estate of Joseph Mitchell, nephew of Margaret Mitchell, author of "Gone With The Wind," the Civil War epic that made his family wealthy.

Local Catholics will not be content with his apology until he moves into a tent.  Parishioners plan to sell their church and attend Sunday Mass standing in a dirt lot.  The collection plate funds will be distributed directly to the poor at the end of each service.  The homeless will be allowed to camp out during the week to save their place in line for charity.  The Archbishop plans to host fund raising events by inviting donors to pitch a tent and sing songs around a campfire.  There is already a waiting list of people wanting to "give 'til it hurts".  The Archbishop is confident his congregation will find new life in Jesus without heat, air conditioning, running water. Inspired by the crucifix, a statue of the Blessed Mother, and a Tabernacle for the Eucharist.

An Atheist group has donated a Coleman pop up tent to cover the icons so they don't have to look at them 24 hours a day.  As it causes stress to be reminded that people still perform antiqued rituals to a "sky daddy".
