flip your wig, wigging out, fright wig, flip top wig?

What I find most shocking.  I can't find a video of a flip top wig.  Somehow it seems to be a comedy staple, but I don't know why.  I can't recall where I've seen one.  Could this be evidence of an implanted memory conspiracy?
