The gay community and Anita Bryant

Anita Bryant is hated by the gay community but it's hard to figure out what the issue is.  She forced a national conversation about homosexuals.  Bringing them out of the shadows so to speak.  As a child I don't recall anything on the television about homosexuality, until Anita Bryant started a crusade.  It's funny to me that Anita Bryant gets lambasted for being homophobic, but gay fashion designers don't get blamed for bad fashion trends.   Women are just stupid and gullible for following crappy fads.
