Whatever happened to the C.O.D option?

Aside from the obvious danger to the delivery person delivering a C.O.D.   How did the modern world put an end to the C.O.D?  Whatever happened to the world that allowed people to write a check or pay cash at their front door when a product was delivered.  You can pay cash for a pizza but Amazon, Ebay, and just about every online retailer as been enchanted by the wicked spell cast by PayPal's paranoid influence on commerce.  PayPal making demons look saintly since 1998.

I've been talking to myself on the internet for so long and I'm just now realizing it's because I have an invisibility superpower.

Terror in the news

There are plenty of horror stories to chose from but the media always picks a common theme and fixates on it.  Lately the common news horror story has been fire.  Using fire to burn down buildings in protest, fires consuming apartment complexes, killing sleeping occupants, people jumping to the death, or severe injury.  Yesterday a gas truck exploded near a Children's hospital in Mexico.  Whether or not this was an act of terror I don't know.   It is terrifying, and it is again fire related.
There a certain types of horror stories that could each have their own channel and run 24 hours a day: child abuse, animal abuse because they are that common.  Yes that should disturb you.  Maybe they should start running channels to show how prevalent these types of crimes are.  The modern world wants to be willfully ignorant, but loves instant constant stimulation.

Carrying the Cross throughout California

Yesterday I saw this man along Hwy 74 on my way to work.  I turned around and asked if he wanted a bottle of water.   He ( Wes ) asked if I needed prayer for anything.  I told him my life is blessed with many wonderful things.  I asked if we could pray for the Hemet Valley, so we did.   He gave me a book titled "Living Waters"

The book begins with:
The Gospel according to St. John
prologue

In the beginning was the Word,
and the Word was with God,
and the Word was God.

He wrote my name in his book underneath Veronica.  I told him about Veronica wiping the face of Jesus.  As part of the Stations of the Cross.   He wiped the sweat from His ace on her cloth and it left His image there.

Pro Law Enforcement rally and candle light vigil. Sultan (K9)

glad I was able to go...I lit my candle from the flame of the girl who worked at the vet office where Sultan was taken.  The police chief told the crowd it was important for law enforcement to know the community stands with them.  He said he attended the event as a member of the community, and said it is lifting the moral of his officers to see the community come together like this.

Riverside County Sheriff K9 shot killed

K9

Sultan

Riverside County Sheriff's Department, California

End of Watch: Wednesday, January 21, 2015

https://www.odmp.org/k9/1547-k9-sultan

On January 21, 2015, at approximately 2:30 pm, deputies from the Hemet Sheriff's Station responded to the area of San Jacinto Street and Clark Drive in regards to a wanted felon seen in the area.  Upon the deputies' arrival they received information that the suspect was last seen in a property located on the 40200 block of Clark Drive.  A San Jacinto Police K9 handler and his K9 partner "Sultan" responded to assist in the search of the wanted felon.
During the search, K9 Sultan alerted to a crawl space underneath a residence.  Due to the confined space K9 Sultan was sent in to determine if the suspect was hiding.  Moments later an indistinguishable noise was heard and K9 Sultan returned from the crawl space with an injury to his neck. K9 Sultan was immediately transported to local veterinarian hospital where he expired.
Because the suspect refused to exit the residence and barricaded himself inside, the Riverside County Sheriff's Department SWAT Team responded. During the lengthy standoff, SWAT personnel made numerous announcements to have the suspect surrender.
In an attempt to have the suspect surrender peacefully, SWAT personnel deployed tear gas.  Shortly thereafter, the suspect emerged from underneath the residence armed with a handgun and a deputy involved shooting occurred.
The suspect died on scene and his name is being withheld pending positive identification and notification of next of kin.  No deputies were injured and per department policy the involved deputies will be placed on paid administrative leave.
Investigators from the Hemet Sheriff's Station and the Riverside County Sheriff's Central Homicide Unit responded to the scene and assumed control of the investigation.  This is an active investigation, and no further details will be released at this time.  Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Investigator  Alfaro at the Riverside Sheriff's Central Homicide Unit (951) 955-2777 or Investigator Porrazzo  with the Hemet Sheriff's Station (951) 791-3400.

It was a man's world.

I heard this song yesterday while driving.
I think it's a song about being disillusioned by the 1960's
The hitch hikers and wanders stopped sitting at freeway off ramps looking for a ride.
I've never witnessed anything like those days again.  It was around 1973.  I remember encountering returning vets, and hippies.  To me they were all part of an adult world that was peculiar.
It many ways it seemed selfish.  If we picked up a hitchhiker I had to move to the back seat, and they got to do all the talking.  Encountering a vet there were boundaries and do's and don't's
and you better listen the first time 'cuz I'm not sayin' it again.  (my way or the highway)  Hippies acted like they lived in a wonderland, but theirs wasn't a familiar place to my imaginary world.  It must be drugs that take you to a different place, not the place of childhood hopes and dreams, and wonder.   Vets demanded you live in the here and now, no pretending.

"and be free once more"

A funny thing happened on the way to the dais

Walking to the podium to give the State of the Union address for 2015.  President O'Bama stopped a woman from fully hugging him.  He took hold of her hand as if he was blocking a knife attack.  It was subtle, and quick.  I'm not sure what I saw because I can't find a video to watch again.  I'm not finding any comments about it on the Internet.  She was a black woman wearing a hat.  I assumed it was Frederica Wilson, since she usually wears a hat. I don't know what it takes to get a aisle seat, but I'm sure the stakes are high, and the person has to have inside connections.  I can't believe I'm the only person the noticed that odd exchange.

A deal for you

Do we deal with each other how we are or how we want each other to be?

Itemize Birthday Parties on your resume

If the woman who wrote the book Poised for Success really believed what she was saying.  The child should have been instructed to take the invitation with the understanding that he would formally accept the invitation after having his lawyer read it, and by accepting the invitation he would be entitled to one vote on the birthday party planning committee for the following year.  He should have asked to see the profit and loss statement to strategize a present campaign to increase the chances of receiving desirable gifts.  The child should be instructed to take advantage of photo ops, to include in a portfolio to get into a good college.

5-Year-Old Receives Invoice After Missing Friend's Party

Instead, Whitmore suggested "a courtesy call saying, 'I’m sorry that your child could not attend my child’s party. I had to incur the cost of him not showing up. Therefore, I would appreciate it if you could help me out by helping me either fully or in part take care of the bill for him not showing up.'”
Whitmore went on to add that Alex's parents weren't off the hook either. The couple claimed they couldn't find the original invitation when they realized their son was double-booked and therefore couldn't connect with Lawrence.
But Whitmore, who is also the author of Poised for Success, believes Alex's father or mother could have made more of an attempt to get in touch.

For Cinderella the shoe had to have the perfect fit, she ran away from the truth and it found her.
Goldie Locks tried until she found what was just right for, but had to abandon that reality or become dinner.
Little Red Riding Hood made judgement calls she acted as if everything was normal even though things were amiss.
All three are lovely stories to convey useful ideas.
Knowing your place within a social setting.
Don't get too comfortable no matter how comfortable you are.
Use your judgement while being graceful.
Yesterday I got into a conversation about art. The current use of big eyed emotionless characters seems Byzantine to me. Imagery that creates a nightmarish place to play with ideas. Laws put maturity ratings on movies, video games, and music. Lacking is the discussion about the essence of imagination and how it should be protected, and what should be protected. Protected not by laws, protected by each individual. Knowing what you are giving up to take on a different reality.

$7.00 an ounce breast milk encourages low income mothers to breastfeed?

 http://parenting.blogs.nytimes.com/2014/12/03/inviting-african-american-mothers-to-sell-their-breast-milk-and-profiting/?_r=0

What is a for-profit company with no African-American employees, no African-American board members and no meaningful connections to African-American mothers doing starting a campaign targeting low-income African-American mothers in Detroit to sell their breast milk under the promise of economic empowerment? That’s a question that deserves an answer,
The Mothers Milk Cooperative, pays approved members who have been screened and have completed blood testing $1 an ounce for their milk...and sells it to hospitals for about $7 an ounce — a 600 percent markup.

Watters' World: bird shenanigans

the action starts at 3:16  No mention of the bird you just see it fly by.  Is the bird trapped inside the building?  Are these businesses outside and it just looks like they are inside a building?  It's hard to believe no one saw that bird when they were editing the video.  Add this to the list of things I'll never know.

Disneyland

Disneyland maybe onto something just spread live viruses around the park to inoculate people.  Park goers can use their Affordable Care Act subsidy to into the park.  The Government can reimburse the park through an ACA subsidy.

They might also want to jump on the computer game concept and change some of their rides to include modern situations where people can become part of a virtual reality.  Zombies, riots, terror attacks, doomsday scenarios,  America becoming a 3rd World nation the possibilities are endless.

Hwy 74 was still closed after 9:00PM

http://www.pe.com/articles/highway-757728-fire-homeland.html

The crash was reported at 6:01 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 7, along Highway 74 between Olson and Melba avenues, about four blocks east of the Homeland post office.

The collision involved a tow truck, an SUV and a car, according to preliminary reports.

All of the victims escaped the burning vehicles, according to preliminary reports. But one person was critically burned, prompting fire officials to summon a medical evacuation helicopter.
Ambulances took five other people to the hospital, fire officials said in a written statement. One of those patients suffered serious injuries, and the four others were described as having moderate injuries.

At 6:27 p.m., a SigAlert was issued because all traffic lanes were expected to be closed for at least another hour. The highway is the main link between I-215 and Hemet, though side streets were used as a detour.

Dress Code

I just read a comment online.  The topic was about a former restaurant in town. The commenter was talking about the dress code.  He wrote "You had to wear a collard shirt." Collard shirts are great especially when they have parley cuffs.  Requiring patrons to wear clothing made out of food can be tricky.   When a rowdy group shows up on a Saturday night wearing edible underwear.

In case you need an excuse to flagellate yourself (ritual blood is in short supply)

It's a little late in the season but I just got the memo.  Turquoise and lime were the colors of the Christmas Season for 2014.   Yes there is a small group of ( I will call them people) who decide for the world what is important.  A fickle bunch who after drinking small sips of fresh drawn spring water, place their bare feet on the icy earth near lumps of fiery coals. Like water drops on a hot iron they dance around.  Wearing bold stripes, or sparkly garments.  They worry and wonder about empty bellies.  They fret over injustice.  They curse about lies and half truths that cause pain and imbalance.  They long for harmony and peace.  They  contribute a tree to sacrifice and let the tree pick the colors.

Bigfoots Spotted by Arizona Highway Cameras

The first time I heard about a creature called a Bigfoot was while staying at a campground in Arizona in the early 1970's.

https://gma.yahoo.com/mysterious-beasts-spotted-arizona-highway-cameras-220315455--abc-news-topstories.html

A suspicious pack of what appeared to be a group of large animals has sparked a viral debate about a possible sasquatch sighting in Arizona.
The Arizona Department of Transportation was behind the latest announcement -- and conspiracy theories began to grow after they posted a photo from a highway patrol camera.
It wasn't Big Foot enthusiasts reading too deeply into a suspicious photo; the government officials were the ones to suggest that something sinister -- and mysterious -- was going on.

Celebrating Poverty

Celebrate poverty.  Why would anyone want to celebrate poverty?  Lots of people do.  Every non profit organization loves to find a cause to add to their community service list of itemized projects.
Non profit organizations need poverty.  Ever heard of a non profit fixing pot holes?  When a person can quit their job to run a non profit and that is as far as the conversation develops. When not even an Atheist would question the logic there's a good chance the percentage of idiots on the planet has risen exponentially.   When I can watch a TV show and have a commercial come on showing children living in dirt shacks bucketing slimy run off water in rusty cans to survive.  I sit and wonder what the blooper reel looks like for the commercial.  I wonder if the paid actor hides from the children to eat his lunch, what happens if the actor has to poop or pee?  Do they bring their own toilet amenities, or pee in a water bottle, and crap in a zip lock bag?  Why is it no one is asking these questions?  Why am I expected to suspend judgement.  Why should I be lulled into a sadistic world created by psychotic idiots that are thriving on human misery?

Just to get a provocative picture? Nothing right, nothing good, nothing cute happening in these pictures.  Animal abuse is alive, well, and a thriving mindset in the modern world.  Wake Up Humankind.
Why would anyone take not one but three disgusting pictures of their child standing on a dog.
How come a six year old (that wants to help) has not been given proper instructions, and proper tools to be part the family unit.  In the background it looks like there is a wood bench under the counter.  Sad life for too many animals in the world.

Eat Here & Get Gas

was surprised I caught the down stroke
Weird road trip.  Large Marge cut us off at the gas pump to put $5.00 in here tank.  After she pulled into a parking space.  She cleared out her car removing all the food wrappers.  It was like a clown pocket she kept pulling stuff out.  Further down the road a tow truck unloaded a big green car.  It was quite odd and drew a small crowd.  I'm not sure why we were mesmerized by the bright green car with Tru Spoke rims and chain link steering wheel, but we sat and watched the tow truck driver skillfully take the car off the tow truck without scrapping it along the parking lot.  They tried adjusting the hydraulics but it was two long planks of wood that did the trick.  We cheered for the burly white boy tow truck driver.  It was a harmonious moment it was a magical moment that united the races.  I even forgot to take a picture of the event I was so captivated.
Oh yeah I found a copy of Killer Clowns from Outer Space on DVD for $2.99.
