California Gubernatorial Debate - September 4, 2014
I just finished watching the debate. I thought Kashkari did a good job. Of course I thought the questions were stupid, but an insight into the two candidates was the point of the debate. Jerry Brown when asked if there would be another debate, mumbled incoherent nonsense. Kashkari hammered Brown about how he is going to pay for the high speed rail project. Which will be by increased gas prices(tax). What wasn't mentioned is the fact that California gas prices are, for now, being kept (for some reason) artificially low. Take a trip out of the State of California you will see what I'm talking about. Jerry Brown made a few strange comments trying to justify his extremely long political career. Jerry Brown is out of touch with the constraints the ACA has put onto part-time employees. Jerry Brown tried taking old tired jabs at Neel Kashkari about Wall Street. Brown was trying to take on the persona of a tent dwelling 99%er. It was silly and ridiculous, like we are supposed to believe Jerry Brown has no investments and has never made money in the stock market. Brown even said something about 'sure if you give out money people get behind you' (a Democrat telling the truth, oh lordy). I hope there are more debates, but with a different panel of questioners. Neel Kashkari doesn't come off like a typical politician even though he acts like one by being able to work with opposing political parties. That seems to be a rarity in the modern world. California has changed in the last 50 years, the politicians need to update their idea of sustainable economy, and start reading from a new script.
***Jerry Brown has no mention of the debate on any of his social media accounts***
