The California grizzly bear, an awesome beast that once haunted the Delta, was driven to extinction in 1924. An enviro group wants to re-introduce them to the California wilds.

"Returning these incredible animals to remote portions of the state would be a key step in rewilding parts of California and saving one of America's most iconic animals," says The Center for Biological Diversity.

The group has launched a pointed advertising campaign. It uses a blank California flag — there's just white space where the grizzly should be.

 I support the idea. Crazy as it sounds.

Part of it is personal. How can I call myself a wilderness hiker if I reject real wilderness?
Part of it is — well, it's hypocrisy to heap contempt on water exporters who drove the San Joaquin River salmon extinct if we're OK with extinctions that suit us.
Part of it is they belong here. Up in the back country, the remote Sierra canyons, the snowy gorges of granite, pine and icy streams where they lived long before we arrived. That's better than flying a blank white flag.

When I think of Los Angeles

One of my coworkers said he was visiting L.A. over the weekend.  When I think of Los Angeles I think of angry people.  Crowds of bad manners. The current American work ethic is a mindset of employees imagining they are on vacation. Customers are viewed, like an inconvenience to a tourist at a vacation paradise.  Murmurs and outraged demands "Do something about these pests immediately".  Depending on the field of work some employees imagine they are part of a fun house. Their duties include frightening and confusing customers.  Some work environments are open mic night for wannabe comedians. The customers treated as real or imagined provocative hecklers.  The underlying concept shaping the point of view of the employee is:  I have a job at this precise moment and in this space and time you as a customer don't.  Therefore the employee feels morally superior and the world belongs to them.  It will benefit the consumer immensely to grasp the concept while navigating the ever changing social expectation requiring modern compliance.

I'll admit I never heard of this guy until someone posted in a comment a gif of Winona Ryder's odd faced cheer.  I went in search of a more complete video.  I found the SAG award show video and a story about a 29 year old woman who allegedly jumped/fell/escaped/dumped from a window of David Harbour's apartment.  He was away at a movie premiere.  It sort of reminded me of when Pope Francis visited the USA.  He opened the Vatican to refugees, while he was away, of course.  Sort of like house sitters and to keep his staff on their toes.

I'm not sure why David Harbour didn't bring Christin Croft to the movie premiere?  She wouldn't have blended well with the elitist snobs?  Winona Ryder's perhaps was channeling what that premier would have looked like if David Harbour brought his mentally ill toy along.  Bravo Hollywood.  You make everyone feel wanted and welcomed.

I wonder if David Harbour will make the journey to my neighborhood to punch me in the face.  It would be a great experience.  I could bully him, he could punch me.  I would continue to bully him.  The Bible says offer up the other cheek correct?

Enjoying the company of a saboteur.  Is there a way to rise above the incessant desire to destroy.  Why would anyone want to enjoy that?  Emotion, the nervous systems way of digesting a sensory feast.  Marking an emotional spot. The place that causes the most damage. Protecting the vulnerability with deception.  The human shield. Lies the weapon, and the shield.  Put energy into that?  Nothing there to enjoy.
