What denial creates
She started speaking. Relaying information. It was like an update. Just the highlights of a recent event. It was a one sided conversation. It didn't have any of the hi, how are you's. It wasn't a conversation. It was never a conversation. It is like how people talk to a person in a coma. Spending time but not relating to a person. That is how her family dealt with her. Not because there was a physical or mental health condition. There had always been a disconnect. The lingering effects of deep denial. The many failed attempts at trying to break through the invisible wall. Each failed attempt seemed to reinforce the denial. Making it seem believable. That was the goal, believability and not having to admit to feeling loneliness, fear, abandonment. The denial kept the emotions from forming into sensations.
