Man accused of using railroad spikes to kill homeless

A prosecutor also revealed for the first time that Jon Guerrero, 39, allegedly used a railroad spike and hammer to attack all five of his victims.

As the two lawyers argued their points, Guerrero tilted his body unnaturally to the left, while holding his left ear. At one point he loudly stated, “Six years!”

Guerrero’s mother, Kathleen Guerrero, wrote letters to the court on his behalf, detailing his mental condition and seeking psychiatric treatment for him in jail.
In one letter she said a past symptom of his illness had been to “insert foreign objects into his body orifices” and that she was concerned it would happen again.
Guerrero’s mother explained he didn’t do well on probation because he had trouble following directions and keeping track of time and appointments. In one letter, she blamed his “lack of hearing and speaking ability.”
