America's ticking time bomb

I've heard that in some regions a company can build infrastructure ei: laying water pipe, electric cables. Almost overnight it is dug up and stolen preventing any progress in building infrastructure.  I get the topic is complex but the message of World Economic Forum always comes across as disjointed.  I thought a European nonprofit organisation defined by structure and cohesion would be candid about the obstacles.  It's disappointing no one is able to speak in plain language.  The long established infrastructure in the U.S seems to crumble (another major bridge collapsed recently makes the rest seem like ticking time bombs).

Kerry told the hundreds of assembled millionaires and billionaires at the WEF confab that “we are looking to mobilize some $4 billion of investment” for targeted “opportunities in tourism, construction, light manufacturing, building materials, energy, agriculture, and information and communications technology.”

San Jacinto River East Hemet California

An emotional plea

Yesterday I was chauffeuring kids here and there.  We stopped to hang out at a local eatery.  I must have looked like a dingbat mom type.  As we walked to the entrance two teens approached me one asked to use my phone to call his mom.  I said no and walked away.  They both just stood there emotionless.  I went back outside and pointed out the payphone across the street.  They both just stood there not saying anything.  I said 'you don't have any money'?  He said 'no'.  I asked how much it cost to use a pay phone.  The other kid said 35¢.  I should have told him to call her collect, but instead I gave him a quarter and a dime.  I don't think it's ever a good idea to have young people out in public having to rely on the kindness of strangers.  Anyhow when the kids inside asked me what happened.  I told them.  They all said 'don't ever let someone borrow your phone they'll run off with it'.  I'll never know what their true intention was.  The only thing I know for certain:  They had developed a skill making an emotional plea while remaining emotionless.  That was all they knew how to do.   Walking to the car later two guys on bikes asked for bus fare, I said no,  he respond sarcastically 'God bless you'

Why are there so many helpless, pitiful, unoriginal, unsophisticated, healthy, bright young people concentrated in this area?

single car accident needed jaws of life

South of Hemet

playing the game

Two days ago while driving on Hwy 74 a kid riding a scooter in traffic,  jumped out of the way in seconds of being smashed by my bumper.  It was dark and on a curve in the road.  Not consistent with a calculated risk .  Today driving the same Hwy, a girl walked out into traffic and just stood in the lane.  With her back to traffic she casually pulled up her sock.  She walked off slowly as horns honked at her and traffic slowed.  This part of the Hwy has hellacious accidents and numerous fatalities.  What's drawing young people to this place to play this game?

Modern and Ancient Communication Devices

This is how humans transmit their thoughts to the masses:
A tv when plugged in sends information good and bad.
A tv unplugged and discarded in a parking lot says people don't care about the enviroment they willingly participate in.

This is how nature communicates with all beings:
Outcropping rocks in a hay field,
bordered by fencing, because it's human nature to hire an attorney.

Cautionary tale (tail)

Sumo

You can pay to pretend like you are part of an ancient tradition.

The grainy image

Motion captured on film, single shot photos, not video. The same thing happens on digital pictures. The distortion caused by motion is an elusive capture.  Something in a real sense doesn't exist because you can't press pause and capture.  John was fascinated by radio and picture, in a place and time that created the world as we live in it today.  He was intrigued by what could be but didn't want to live on a rubble strewn foundation.

Almost

Almost only counts with horseshoes and hand grenades

Just say No to clothes

WhO  CoNtRoLs tHe fAsHiOn iNdUsTrY?
Take a stroll through a clothes store, a mall, a department store. It looks like plastic surgeons, prostitutes, and strippers are making the choices about what ends up on the sales floor. Could be why retail is having a difficult time making a profit. They are designing clothes for people that get paid to not wear any.

It's was great to see the cyclists go by in a flash.
Hope the Tour of California comes back to the area next year.

Things to put in your glove compartment

I've never put gloves in my glove compartment.  I put stuff I need but never use in the glove compartment.   I could call it the 'need but never use compartment'  but that makes it sound like a psychosis.  It's like when your dog wags it's tail and rhythmically hits something that creates a sound, but no one calls the dog a drummer.

Hemet is the New Ellis Island

The New Colossus
by Emma Lazarus

Not like the brazen giant of Greek fame,
With conquering limbs astride from land to land;
Here at our sea-washed, sunset gates shall stand
A mighty woman with a torch, whose flame
Is the imprisoned lightning, and her name
Mother of Exiles. From her beacon-hand
Glows world-wide welcome; her mild eyes command
The air-bridged harbor that twin cities frame.
"Keep, ancient lands, your storied pomp!" cries she
With silent lips. "Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!"

The New Colossus (modified for the City of Hemet)
 by Emma Lazarus

Not like the brazen giant of Greek fame,
With conquering limbs astride from land to land;
Here at our sun parched earth, sunset gates shall stand
A mighty woman with a torch, whose flame
Is the imprisoned lightning, and her name
Mother of Exiles. From her beacon-hand
Glows world-wide welcome; her mild eyes command
The air-bridged valley that mountains frame.
"Keep, ancient lands, your storied pomp!" cries she
With silent lips. "Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of failed social engineering.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me,
Let us restore the fervor that is our birthright.

Jerky Jockey

I wonder how much the Race Track could make putting a saddle on this Jockey and letting people beat him with a stick?
